Time Zone Converter
Pick two zones or cities, a time and a date. The result accounts for daylight saving on that exact date.
How to convert a time by hand
Move through UTC: subtract the first zone's offset from the time, then add the second zone's offset.
Example: 2:00 PM AEST to SGT. AEST is UTC+10, so 14:00 minus 10 hours is 04:00 UTC. SGT is UTC+8, so 04:00 plus 8 hours is 12:00 PM.
Example: 9:00 PM PST to JST. PST is UTC−8, so 21:00 plus 8 hours is 05:00 UTC the next day. JST is UTC+9, so the result is 2:00 PM the next day.
The offset depends on the date. New York is UTC−5 in January and UTC−4 in July, which is why this converter asks for a date as well as a time.
Common abbreviations
In this converter, EST, CST, MST, PST, CET and AEST follow the real clock of their region on the date you choose. EST on a July date therefore uses UTC−4, which is strictly EDT, because that is what most people mean when they write EST all year.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between EST and EDT?+
EST is UTC−5 and EDT is UTC−4. New York uses EDT from March to November and EST the rest of the year. Many people write EST all year, so this converter follows the clock in New York on your chosen date.
Does the converter handle daylight saving time?+
Yes. It uses the rules in the IANA Time Zone Database for the date you pick, so a conversion for January and one for July can give different results.
Why does the result say next day or previous day?+
The two places can be on different calendar dates at the same moment. The label shows the date in the second place compared with the first.
Can I share a conversion?+
Yes. The page address updates as you change the zones, time and date, so you can copy the link and the other person sees the same conversion.
